The nephrocenter model was presented at the III National Congress of Nephrologists

On September 5-7, the Seventh National Congress of Nephrologists, Dialysis Physicians and Transplantologists of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Semey.
Within the framework of the Congress, many pressing topics were touched upon, problems and possibilities of maximizing the quality of life of patients with ESRD and CKD were discussed.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, chief nephrologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Saltanat Tuganbekova outlined the relevance of developing a new model of a modern nephrological center.

The model of the neprhocenter was presented by representatives of B.B.NURA and ABM-Medicus:

Sholpan Kanafina – Medical Director of B.B.NURA Hospitals Group, nephrologist, doctoral candidate PhD

Gauhar Rakhymzhan – head of the clinical operations department, audit and quality service of the B.B.NURA Hospitals Group, MBA student in healthcare

The speakers, based on their own experience and knowledge, talked about how they represent the nephrocenter, its main components, the benefits for the patient and medical staff. During the discussion, the speakers came to the conclusion that the idea of the nephrocenter is to provide comprehensive care and support for patients with various kidney health conditions – from prevention to transplantation and dialysis. To implement the idea, 4 departments are needed:
1. Department of advisory nephrology to provide advisory nephrological care to the population and reduce the progression of CKD.
2. Department of ambulatory dialysis for RRT as part of hemodialysis program in accordance with international treatment standards.
3. Department of inpatient dialysis and acute renal failure to ensure the treatment of patients with acute renal failure and ESRD in accordance with international therapy standards.
4. The existence of the three previous departments is impossible without the continuous development and advanced training of personnel; for this, an Education Center, including a teaching and methodical department and a simulation center, is required.
Based on the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the B.B.NURA Education Center is ready to provide training for competitive specialists in the field of efferent therapy who own innovative technologies.

Today, all four departments are successfully functioning and outpatient dialysis centers are being transformed into B.B.NURA nephrology centers. More details about the functions of the departments of the Nephrocenters are available in the booklet. download.

Also, the speakers and participants in the discussion agreed that the technical components and the presence of strong partners are important components of the nephorology center.

Within the framework of the Congress, an exhibition was held where innovative technologies, new medical devices and the achievements of international and domestic science that were necessary for implementation in the regions of the country were presented.
